I’ve got a long history of teaching greenhorns how to fish and speaking out against fish farming and hatcheries, so when a former deckhand said “I’m writing a book about it” I said I’d help. It’s been a tough two years adjusting to the loss of patriarch Perry’s wisdom and experience, coupled with the rapid decline and loss of his wife a year and a half later. Those family illnesses and losses created one of the most difficult years ever, but they must be watching over Tom and the crew and the boat carefully, bringing them safely through the season and home to family and friends.
